Is there an official Kick desktop app?
No - Kick doesn't ship a desktop app; kick.com in a browser is the official way to watch. StreamRift is an independent, open-source native client for macOS and Windows that treats Kick as a first-class platform: browse, watch, follow, chat, moderate, and record.
Is Kick playback really ad-free?
Yes. Kick doesn't inject server-side ads into its streams the way Twitch does, and StreamRift plays the raw HLS stream directly - so Kick panes just play the broadcast, uninterrupted.
Do Kick chat and emotes work?
Fully. Kick chat runs over Pusher with native Kick emotes (picker and :autocomplete), role badges, room modes, live polls, host notifications, and clip embeds. Moderators can /ban, /timeout, and /unban through Kick's official moderation API.
Can I watch Kick and Twitch at the same time?
Yes - that's the point. Sign in with Kick, Twitch, or both, and mix channels from both platforms in one grid of up to four streams. Categories and search merge results from both, and the same game on both platforms collapses into a single card.
Can I record Kick streams?
Yes. Local recording works on Kick panes with the same quality and format settings, progress badge, and keybind as Twitch - saved straight to your disk, no cloud, no expiry.
How does Kick login work?
Kick's standard OAuth 2.0 flow with PKCE, in your own browser - the same way the app handles Twitch. Your token is stored in the OS keychain and never leaves your machine. You can also watch public Kick channels without signing in.
